GE13: Kit Siang is the one that needs to be changed, says Dr Mahathir
JOHOR BARU: It does not make sense for DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang to even think that they can take over Johor, said former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad besides urging Johoreans to ensure that he does not win.
Dr Mahathir, who did not mince his words, described the news of Lim contesting in Gelang Patah as “ridiculous”.
“We have to make sure that Lim does not win.
“He has been around for too long and keeps on shouting for change but he is the one that needs to be changed,” said Dr Mahathir to the cheers of the thousands of people who attended a talk at the Permai Kempas PPR here on Sunday night.
Dr Mahathir said Lim had been in politics since 1964 and should retire to give way to his son.
“Actually, maybe he should even give way to his grandchildren because he is that old,” he joked.
In GELANG PATAH, MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heungquestioned Lim's motive for contesting in Gelang Patah.
He said the people should evaluate Lim's reason for wanting to contest there.
“Does he really want to provide service to the people or just want to show off?” he asked.
Chor urged the Gelang Patah people not to be influenced by the Opposition's promises as records showed that Lim would stay at a seat for one or two terms after winning.
“Maybe the reason that Lim, who is Ipoh Timor MP, hops from one seat to another is because he is someone who only talks a lot but does not take action' in the areas that he contests in and the people there no longer support him,” he said after inspecting the infrastructure at five new villages in Gelang Patah yesterday.
Chor also announced an allocation of RM400,000 to the new villages in Gelang Patah, Ulu Choh, Lima Kedai, Kangkar Pulai and Skudai.
“I have also met with the village heads to hear the problems that they face. The funds are meant to upgrade roads, drainage system and improve infrastructure,” he added.
